Pamela Anderson in Pastease - CENSORED VIDEO BELOW!
December 14, 2005
by Sarah Hall with E!Online

NBC Pulls Pamela's Pole Dance
Pamela Anderson's pole-dancing prowess proved too provocative for the Peacock.

NBC cut footage of the Stacked star performing some suggestive steps around a pole from an Elton John television special that aired Monday night, after deeming Anderson's routine too racy for prime time.

In the censored number, a super-sized Anderson, clad in little more than pasties, white boots and a boa, appears on a 50-foot-tall video screen behind John, swinging around a pole, while he performs "The Bitch Is Back."

The full routine was included in preview copies of Elton John: The Red Piano that were sent to critics.

However, after a review by its standards and practices department, NBC decided the material was not a good fit for the special's intended audience and cut out Anderson's routine from the show.

"We believed the content was not appropriate for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT and decided to pull the song from the special," NBC said in a statement Tuesday.

Ironically, it was largely the infamous wardrobe malfunction incident involving Timberlake and Janet Jackson that led networks to crack down on their indecency standards for fear of being hit with hefty fines.

As of Wednesday, there was no word from either Anderson or John regarding their thoughts on NBC's edits.
